Trouting on the Au Sable River's South Branch |
|
ChromeKid writes " About a week ago, I was invited to stay at the Oxbow Club, located right on the South Branch of the Au Sable. I was fishing with my Dad, his buddy, his buddy's son, and a couple of his buddy's friends. My Dad and I stayed for four days, and I ended up catching over twenty-five Brookies, and a few bonus Browns.
During the day we would fish shallow riffles, and a few pools for both Brook, and Brown Trout. The fishing was excellent! At night we would fish the Isonychia, and Brown Drake hatch, witch rewarded us with a few good sized Browns, and a couple nice Brookies!
If you weren't fishing you could tie flies in the back room, right by the river, or lounge in the living room, and watch t.v.! At night if you leave a window open, you could hear fish slurpin' away at the many Isonychias, or Brown Drakes floating down the river! It almost made me want to get suited up and go back out, but mu casting arm was aching from the day's fishing!
It was a great expirience, the lodging was excellent, and the fishing was unbelieveable! I can wait untill the next time I can go back for more!"
